Kids Connect's first year was made possible by support from MetroWest ABLE (Access, Belonging, and Life Enrichment for People and Families with Special Needs). MetroWest ABLE is a program of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ and works to advocate for and support individuals and their families with special needs.
Kids Connect is designed for Jewish students in grades five through ten (10 - 15 years old) who are on the autism spectrum, and who would otherwise be unable to participate in a typical youth group experience. With meetings every four to six weeks, Kids Connect will include holiday celebrations, trips, social action projects, and additional youth group activities. All programs include both peer teen support (students in grades eight through twelve) and a Kids Connect director on site. In addition, all Kids Connect activities are open to the entire community. Members do not need to be affiliated with a synagogue.
